Remote Auditory Processing Disorder Assessments and Treatment

What Is APD?

Auditory Processing Disorder is a complex problem affecting thousands of school-aged children (as well as adults). These children cannot process the information they hear in the same way as other children because their ears and brain do not fully coordinate.

Unfortunately, if the auditory deficits are not identified and managed early, it can eventually manifest in speech/language delays, learning disorders, and academic problems.

How to know if your child might have APD

Your child might display a number of APD behaviors such as:

  • They may often misunderstand what is said or respond at a slower pace
  • Have difficulty listening or paying attention in noisy environments
  • Make frequent requests for repetition, asking “What?” or “Huh?”
  • Seem confused or have difficulty following long directions
