Hearing Screenings
Hearing screening is a test used to determine whether people may have hearing loss. Screening can be performed on anyone from newborns to adults. As part of our clinical hearing services San Diego County, we ensure that screenings are accessible, accurate, and appropriate for all age groups.
Hearing Evaluations and Treatment Plans
The diagnostic hearing evaluation consists of a variety of tests to determine the unique aspects of your hearing loss, as well as the level at which you can detect and understand speech. This evaluation can be conducted on people of any age, from infants to seniors. We will also discuss with you and your friend/family member what concerns are present surrounding your hearing loss.
We will explain all tests in detail when the evaluation is scheduled. The hearing test, along with lifestyle and budget considerations, will help us determine your best hearing solution.
This test is important for further diagnostics and recommendations by our team. Also, these tests allow an opportunity to establish a relationship with your audiologist — a key component of quality clinical hearing services San Diego County.
Above all, do not be afraid to ask questions. You will want to be clear on any information you receive so that you can be an active participant in finding hearing solutions that work best for you and your lifestyle.

Hearing Evaluations
Hearing Aid Evaluations and Hearing Aid Fittings
After you have had a hearing evaluation and if your audiologist has determined you are a candidate for hearing aids, the audiologist will work with you on selecting the hearing aids most appropriate for your hearing needs. You will then be scheduled for a hearing aid fitting at your next visit.
During the hearing aid fitting appointment, your audiologist will program the hearing aids with a specific prescription based on your hearing evaluation and your personal & lifestyle needs. Once programmed, your audiologist will explain how to insert and remove the hearing aids and batteries, as well as very basic cleaning instructions.
It is recommended that you bring a close friend or family member to this appointment to help you remember the information provided. You will have a follow-up appointment in one to two weeks after your initial fitting. During this time, patients generally have a list of questions.
These personalized fittings are an important part of our comprehensive clinical hearing services San Diego County.
Hearing Aid Repair and Maintenance
There are many small moving parts in hearing aids, and at some point, they will likely need repair. There are many reasons why hearing aids can “mess up.” Of course, normal wear and tear is a major reason. This includes earwax and moisture from various sources.
Even with good care and regular maintenance, a hearing aid can still require a repair. One of our team members will assess your hearing aid and determine whether it can be repaired in the office or needs to be sent to the manufacturer.
Here at Best Hearing, we can clean, check, and repair most hearing aids. There is even better news: even if the hearing aid was not purchased at our office, we will, in most cases, find a repair solution that suits your needs.
Please feel free to come to our office to have a look at your hearing aid, or call us for more information about our trusted clinical hearing services San Diego County.
Product Options & Selection
Hearing Aids & Product Upgrades
Custom Ear Molds
Assistive Listening Devices are amplifiers that bring sound directly into the ear, separating the sounds, particularly speech, that a person wants to hear from background noise. They improve what is known as the “speech to noise ratio,” meaning speech is enhanced and noise is reduced.
FM Systems
TV Systems & Amplified Phones
Remote Mics & Conference Room Solutions
Hearing Solutions for theaters, courtrooms, libraries, and other public venues.
Tinnitus Evaluations & Treatment
Tinnitus is not a disease but a condition that can result from a wide range of underlying causes. At Best Hearing San Diego, we have specialized in treating patients with tinnitus for more than 10 years.
Our Tinnitus Treatment Program begins with specialized testing to evaluate your Tinnitus. You will be counseled regarding your test results and whether you are a candidate for tinnitus therapy. Your tinnitus treatment options will be reviewed, and in most cases, treatment can start immediately.
Auditory Processing Evaluations & Treatment Plans
The auditory processing diagnostic evaluation begins with a parent interview and review of your case history. This is followed by testing your hearing system (the outer, middle, & inner ear structures), then screening tests for the presence of APD. Should the screening tests indicate the presence of an auditory processing disorder, then a complete APD test battery will be completed. You will be counseled regarding your test results, and recommendations for management will be made. A follow-up appointment will then be made with the audiologist for more in-depth patient education & counseling with parents & family members regarding effective treatment & intervention for APD.
Aural Rehabilitation Training
Aural rehabilitation is the process of identifying and diagnosing hearing loss, providing various therapies to patients who are hard of hearing, and implementing amplification devices to improve hearing and overcome communication difficulties.
The aural rehabilitation process can focus on an individual’s needs by creating a plan specifically for that patient, or take a group approach to offer support, education, and share experiences — all part of our patient-centered clinical hearing services San Diego County.
