Doctor of Audiology

F-AAA: Fellow-American Academy of Audiology
Pamela Best, Au.D. is a licensed Clinical & Dispensing Audiologist. She has spent her career specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss, tinnitus, vestibular and auditory processing disorders. She is passionate about reaching out and serving the needs of others, like herself, that live with hearing and balance disorders. While she has had the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of clinical settings throughout her career, she feels blessed to have had the opportunity since 2003 to serve patients in a private practice setting which she feels allows a clinician the greatest freedom in dedicating their time & expertise to the patient’s best advantage. In an effort to continue her philosophy of quality, personalized-care, “Balance & Hearing Specialty Group, Inc.” launched a new division “Best Hearing San Diego” in 2016 designed to bring Concierge Audiology services to the San Diego and surrounding areas.
Dr. Best has had a hearing problem herself since she was 10 years old. She was taken all over California trying to find answers to help her hearing problem. Her problem went on as she progressed in school. She went on to college at the American College of Lucerne, Switzerland and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Merchandising & Design. After college she started her own special events company. All the while still having a hearing problem and still seeking an answer on what could be done to help-but no one could give her the answers she needed.
Frustrated, she decided to find her answers while also becoming a part of the solution for others like herself. She went back to school at the University of Colorado for her Master’s degree in Speech & Hearing Science and University of Florida for her Doctorate degree in Audiology. She has focused her post doctorate training in the testing and treatment of patients with specialized hearing & balance problems who struggle to find the help they need. She has held both clinical & consulting positions in a variety of settings (VA hospital, Scripps Hospital, Casa Colina Rehabilitation hospital, Pediatric ENT groups) and has served as CEO of Balance & Hearing Specialty Group, Inc. since 2003.
She is well known in the San Diego community for her compassion, knowledge and clinical expertise. Dr. Best is referred to by medical & allied professionals, school districts, hospitals, professional organizations, as well as satisfied patients & their families. Dr. Best has helped hundreds of children & adults to receive the help they needed in treating their APD, tinnitus, dizziness, or hearing loss. You will find Dr. Best and her colleagues are passionate & dedicated to helping people get the solution they need for their personal struggles with hearing & balance problems.
When taking a break from helping people with their hearing, Dr. Best’s other interests include art (printmaking, collage, polymer clay), reading, traveling, church, and spending time enjoying life with her loving children, family and friends.
